While raising her family in Florida, she volunteered for many years at her daughters' large local high school in the college advising department. She then became the College Advisor at Western High school which serves 700+ seniors and over 3,000 high school students.
She founded Ascent because she believes students require individual attention during the college application process, something that is difficult to master with a 485/1 ratio in Florida.
Julia has helped students achieve:
Acceptances to universities in 25 states, and over 95 universities
College Class of 2020 Scholarships totaling $4.7 million, including $885,000 in Bright Futures scholarship
Admissions to prestigious university admissions including: Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Harvey Mudd, Cornell, UCBerkeley, UCSan Diego, UCSanta Barbara, Rice, Georgia Tech, Emory, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Tulane, UNC Chapel Hill, University of Michigan, University of Texas Austin, University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Maryland...all of the Florida universities.
Julia absolutely loves working one-on-one with her students, and has vast experience with all levels of applications, from first generation students applying to local colleges, to gifted students applying to the highly selective and Ivy League schools.
Julia is the parent of two college age students, one currently completing a Master's with University of Florida, the other a junior at Duke - both of her girls have chosen a STEM field.
Having gone through the application process with her daughters, she truly understands the student's and parents' perspectives.
